January 2017 : 1st Things First!

Hi, HIM family! As we begin the year 2017, I would like to encourage us to set a few things in place for ourselves. I believe as we begin the year, it is good to be able to set certain things in perspective, so that we can have a stronger year ahead of us.

Firstly, I think it is good for us to set our personal commitment to God in a correct manner. 1st things first! Prioritise God, and He will prioritise you.

It is good for us to set God as the centre of everything that we are going to do this year. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and He will make our paths straight (or He will direct and guard our ways)”. I believe that as we set God as our top priority, you are going to see that God is going to order our ways! God is also going to prosper what we are going to do for God. I encourage you, and I even want to challenge you – begin to put God as the first place in your life and in all of your plans.

Secondly, I believe it is important for us to put our church commitment in order.

Put your church life such that you will say, “I’m going to extend. I’m going to increase my commitment to church.” Be faithful to everything that the church desires to do – be it services, prayer meetings, or even those times that we commit to the Word of God to obey and listen to what God desires to say to us. Perhaps in this year, challenge yourself to be faithful in your life groups. Perhaps some of you will multiply life groups and some of you can be faithful in the department work or ministry work, where God has gifted you with the talent to bless the church, and to strengthen the Church of Jesus Christ. I would like to encourage you to set your church life in order.

Thirdly and finally, I would like to encourage us to set our personal lives in order.

Look at your hours. Look at the emotional expectations. Look at how we are spending our finances and look at how we could order our personal lives in a stronger way. As I read Deuteronomy 33, I would like to encourage you with verse 25, where it says, “Your strength will be equal to your days”. I am believing in God that I will have the strength to be able to meet the challenges of 2017. Not only will I want to do more for the Lord, but I believe I will be an overcomer, I will be stronger, and I will believe for greater fruits in 2017.

So, I encourage all of youl to set these 3 things in order in your life. 1st things first! With God, with the church, and in your personal life. Have a wonderful 2017. God bless you!

Love,
Ps Simon Eng
