10th Hope Bengaluru Camp

From August 24th to 27th, 2017, Hope Bengaluru Camp was held at Glorious Promised Land, a Christian Retreat Campsite outside of Bengaluru Metropolitan. The theme “Forward Together” was aptly put as there were many new leaders working together to organize the camp. Our speaker, Ps. Kwong Lie, shared from the apocalyptic passages of Zechariah regarding the characteristics and functioning of God’s church. Overall, many of us experienced God in a new way and understood God values the church as the apple of His eye. We had 71 participants, including international delegates from Hope Johor Bahru (Malaysia), Hope Batu Pahat (Malaysia), and Hope Taipei. There were also national delegates from Mumbai and Chandigarh.

On the first day, the highlights were Praise & Worship, Teaching and Group Games. The opening ceremony was very energetic.

We started the second day with group devotion. The trekking in the afternoon was unforgettable as brothers and sisters worked together to encourage one another to climb up the hill. Later, some shared testimonies about how they were encouraged to continue the climb though it was difficult. No one was left behind and everyone was blessed by the scenery on top of the hill.

In the afternoon of the third day, we had water baptism where two brothers were baptised as they decide to follow Christ for the rest of their lives. This is the first time we had water baptism in camp.  Later that evening, we had an amazing Camp Fire event. We sang and danced around the camp fire. It was a different experience praising God in the open. Different groups performed dance, skit, drama, or song which brought out the theme “Forward Together.” God answered our prayers that it didn’t rain during all our outdoor activities.

On the fourth day, we had time to pray, seek God and minister to one another in the Holy Spirit. We had different brothers and sisters who shared their testimonies on how they were able to joined the camp despite difficulties. Many testified the goodness of God. Ps. Kwong Lie introduced a song, For Future Generation, which was very encouraging.

As the camp ended, we departed with a greater conviction of building God’s church according to God’s blueprint. We took God’s word in our hearts and prayed for one another, believing God will do greater things in our lives as we move forward together to advance God’s Kingdom.
