If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Baptism is a life-changing event for every believer. It stands out as a declaration that Jesus is Lord, and that we believe in the birth, death and resurrection of Christ. It is an action that shows that we are willing to die to our past selves and to be born again in God. And what a wonderful new life that is in Jesus!
In early November 2024, Hope Brisbane Willawong Centre held a water baptism service at the Unidus Community Centre. The sun was shining brightly as 22 individuals made this same life-changing decision to publicly declare their faith and commitment to Jesus. This diverse group of baptizees ranged from children to teenagers, to adults and retirees, all choosing to take this powerful step of obedience.
The entire church family came together to support and witness these bold declarations, and the atmosphere was filled with excitement and joy. It was a moving sight to see people taking this public step in their faith journey, which is a testimony of God’s goodness and the transformative work He has done in their lives. The joy on their faces was undeniable. After the baptism service, the celebration continued as the whole congregation gathered for their monthly Super Sunday lunch. It was a time for fellowship, building community, and celebrating God’s faithfulness together.
This may be a short message for all of us reading this article today. But if you believe in your heart that you would like to declare that Jesus is Lord to those around you with an act of water baptism, reach out to your pastors and leaders today. And as you take this step in faith, let the next verse from Romans 10 encourage you as you step into your wonderful new life.
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
