We often take a look at the baptism of water that marks a significant milestone in our spiritual journey with Christ. But this time, we are going to take it a step further. We are going to take a look at what comes next. John the Baptist mentions this very thing in Matthew 3:11
I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

A baptism of fire is not just being anointed by the Spirit of God, but it goes beyond that. We are created in the image of God, and with that comes the same fiery passion that God has for us. Deuteronomy 4:24 mentions how God is an all consuming fire, and how he is passionate about keeping us close to him. But this relationship with God should not be a one-sided affair. We should also fan the fire in us to burn for Him!
This is what our brothers and sisters in the Central and Northern region of Malaysia experienced in a Bible Conference that took place from 29-31 March 2025. With the theme ”FIRE Conference”, this event focused on fanning the flames of Empowerment, Revival and Evangelism. With an unprecedented post-pandemic turnout of 718 participants including 120 children between the ages of 3 and 12, there was a tangible air of excitement! People came with great anticipation, hungry for a fresh encounter with God!
The conference was privileged to host Dr. Jerry Stott, South Pacific Global Associate Director of Foursquare Missions International. With deep conviction and anointing, Dr. Jerry delivered an impactful message on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, blending solid Biblical teaching with inspiring and powerful testimonies from his international ministry. His sessions ignited faith and stirred hearts for the work of the Holy Spirit.
Throughout the three days, the atmosphere was charged with the presence of God. From the opening night and into the following morning, the Holy Spirit moved powerfully among the participants, leading into the wonderful “Generations Fire” that took place on the second afternoon. People of all ages gathered, expressing a deep hunger for God as they witnessed many being touched by the Holy Spirit into the evening. Many hearts were renewed, lives refreshed, and spirits revived.
On the final day, Dr. Jerry delivered a closing message that culminated in a moving time of prayer for all pastors and church coordinators. What followed was a sacred moment, a “Fire Tunnel,” where all participants passed between two lines formed by leaders who laid hands on each person, praying for a fresh impartation of spiritual gifts and passion for the Lord. It was a powerful symbol of generational transfer, unity, and spiritual commissioning.
As wonderful as the conference was for the adults, so was the experience that the children had during their own program. It was led by a team of experienced educators and ministers, creating a vibrant and worshipful environment for them. Many of the children encountered God deeply, some even moved to tears during worship as they cried out to the Lord!
The FIRE Conference 2025 was indeed a landmark moment for the Central and Northern Malaysia region, a Spirit-filled time where heaven touched earth. Participants left feeling renewed, empowered and ready to carry the fire of God into their churches, homes and communities, each of them now a firestarter for God.
So how are you going to be a firestarter for Him? Do you have a fiery passion to reach out to your colleagues in your workplace? Do you have a fiery passion for sharing God’s goodness with your family that has yet to experience God? Do you have a fiery passion for travelling across nations shouting the Good News? Or is your fire inviting those around you to seek God’s peace in you? Whatever your fire is, know that it is sparked by God in you. So be empowered and revived wherever you are, and let your lives speak loud for God!
