All of us are familiar with the phrase “Here I am, send me”. Quoted from Isaiah 6:8, we hear it across many sharings and testimonies throughout our Christian lives. It has become synonymous with being sent out for mission work and so much more. However, obeying God’s call is more than just saying the words. Oftentimes, it’s about taking a step back to see what needs to be done in preparation.
Calling the unworthy
You see, if we were to read the chapter in its entirety, it leads to an interesting moment with Isaiah at first. When he received his commission, Isaiah was not prepared, and he realised it. His first reply to seeing the seraphim was to be filled with woe, for he was a man of unclean lips, living amongst a people of unclean lips. He understood that being called by the King, the Lord Almighty was a task that he was unworthy of.
Often we find ourselves living in situations similar to this. We live in a world full of uncleanliness even as we continue to strive to do something for God. However, our God is not a god who calls only the worthy ones, but a god that makes us worthy to be called. The chapter continues to mention how Isaiah was then atoned of his guilt and sin, and it was only then he was able to be sent to the people.
Getting the BOOST
Earlier this year, Hope Adelaide hosted their annual BOOST Conference, where they launched into their theme for the year: “Here I am – Send Me.” Across six powerful sessions, hearts were stirred, faith was strengthened, and lives were realigned with God’s purpose. The resounding message of BOOST was simple yet profound, that God is not looking for ability, but availability.
To say “Here I am” is to surrender pride, remove compromises, press into God’s presence, and walk in wholehearted obedience. It was a reminder that spiritual sensitivity protects destiny, alignment carries divine significance, and every believer is called to reach the lost through their unique assignment. Most importantly, BOOST ignited fresh faith for a year of acceleration, believing for breakthrough, growth, and many lives turning to Christ.
Hope Adelaide honors and thanks Pastors Brendan and Helen for their unwavering leadership, sacrifice, and deep love for the Hope family. BOOST continues to flourish because they faithfully create space for God’s presence to move and for the church to remain aligned with heaven’s agenda. The conference was also blessed with Pastor Jimmy Njino from Victory Life Toowoomba as a guest speaker. Throughout the weekend, he ministered with clarity, conviction, and the power of the Holy Spirit—calling the people not merely to inspiration, but to genuine transformation. Furthermore, in the spirit of the theme, an army of volunteers were behind the success of the conference. They answered the call, serving tirelessly behind the scenes, carrying the spirit of unity and excellence that makes moments like this possible.
Stepping up to the call
As we answer the call to saturate our nations, let us look at it with a renewed perspective. It’s not just about being sent, but also importantly about being ready in the first place. We wouldn’t want to find ourselves in woe when God comes calling, for he has already atoned for our sins. He has made us worthy to answer His call, to share His goodness and to do greater things. So let us all step up to the call. It’s not the time for famous last words, but instead famous first words, for this is only the beginning of what God has in store for us.
Greater things are yet to come.
