As we continue on our spiritual journey in Christ, we often find ourselves needing to grow more. For as we move on from being spiritual infants to grow up tasting the goodness of the Lord (1 Peter 2:2-3), it’s time we begin to reach for something more!
This year, 125 leaders and 36 children leaders from 10 Hope Bahasa Malaysia and Iban churches across Sarawak gathered for Leaders Retreat 2025 with the theme 5R: Reach Deep, Reach Together, Reach In, Reach Up, Reach Out. It was a weekend filled with equipping, fellowship, laughter, and, most importantly, the refreshing presence of God, where many experienced healing, restoration, and breakthroughs.
The retreat featured fun and interactive activities that encouraged active learning, group discussions, and opportunities to listen and strengthen one another as a team. Even though there were moments of spiritual warfare — with half of the hall losing electricity and no water supply for some of the time — everyone carried a sweet and joyful spirit. Nothing could stop us from pressing on together and experiencing God’s presence.
Through the 5R theme, leaders were challenged to reach deep into God’s Word, remembering that Bible study is not just about gaining knowledge but encountering Jesus, living in obedience, discipling others, and building a strong foundation of faith. They were reminded to reach together by cultivating unity, managing conflicts wisely, and serving as one Body of Christ, stronger when standing together. To reach in, leaders reflected on building covenant relationships marked by love, support, and encouragement. A renewed focus was also given to reach up through prayer and worship as the heartbeat of every leader’s life and ministry, making prayer a daily priority not only for personal needs but also for interceding for others. Finally, the call to reach out reminded leaders that church growth is not only about numbers but begins with the spiritual health of the congregation, leading to transformation that impacts communities and carries God’s mission beyond borders.
Leaders Retreat 2025 was more than just training; it was a divine appointment where leaders were refreshed, equipped, and united with a greater passion to serve. As we journey forward, we carry with us a renewed vision — to love God wholeheartedly, to serve His people faithfully, and to bring the Gospel beyond the four walls of the church. It’s time we begin to Reach Deep, Reach Together, Reach In, Reach Up, Reach Out.
