Christmas bells are beginning to sound all around as we step into the month of December. Isn’t it just a wonderful time of the year? We find ourselves cleaning and decorating the house, setting up Christmas trees, planning a Christmas meal and so much more fun activities! Most of these things are fun, but the joy is multiplied when we do it with our families.
Earlier this year, a large family gathering happened in the Philippines, combining the people from Hope Pulo Cabuyao, Hope Diezmo Cabuyao, Hope Muntinupa, and HIM Indang. Under the theme “Enlarge to the Utmost”, our brothers and sisters from Hope Philippines had a Family Day that lasted for two days, bringing spiritual transformation personally as well as to the relationships.
The opening program began with the vibrant and joy-filled cheer dance, a celebration of life, unity, and joy in the Lord. Throughout the day, team activities helped people connect, work together, and grow closer. These were not just activities; they were ways God used to build stronger relationships in the church. One of the highlights of the event was Encounter Night, which was a special time of worship and praise to God. Everyone came together to lift their voices, praying for a fresh fire of the Holy Spirit as they stood together as a family.
On the second day, there were learning sessions held by age groups, classifying the participants in groups of kids, youths and adults. As the senior pastor, Ps Henry Sevilleno as well as Ps Soradej & Dr Eunice Meesaengtham shared their hearts and the Word of God through personal experiences. Their sharing inspired the church to grow even deeper in faith as they walk closer with God. Each session also emphasized on knowing God even deeper, putting Him first in every aspect of life in addition to recognizing God’s ownership over all resources. The church was encouraged to grow in faith as they embraced a bigger vision for the Great Commission, to walk in fuller obedience to God.
Just as Hope Philippines’ Family Day was drawing to an end, they recognized and celebrated every life group and unit that experienced growth through the year. One thing was clear, this weekend was more than just a fun filled family gathering. It was a special time in God, designed to help everyone grow. Every participant returned not only refreshed, but also transformed, spiritually renewed and with even more commitment to walk with God.
As we approach our family and church gatherings for Christmas this year, how are we going to do the same? Can we find a way to make this season a time to encourage each other and strengthen their journey in Christ? Let this year be a refreshing Christmas to all of us as we join together as a family and celebrate Jesus!
